Best Way To Connect A Laptop For Dvd Uses To A Lcd Flat Screen Tv?
I recently purchased a flat screen LCD TV. I want to use my laptop as my DVD player. Is there a cetain cable I should buy? How many cables do I need? Will it give the same picture quality as if I used a conventional DVD player?
Thank You

A flat screen LCD TV will likely have a monitor jack. Just use an appropriate monitor cable and make the appropriate settings so your TV is a second computer monitor. It’s generally quite easy. Check your TV owner’s manual and your computer’s help guides for instructions.
The picture quality will likely be the same. You may have problems with the comptuter DVD images jerking at times if there is insufficient random access memory available on your computer – like if you are doing other tasks simultaneously, or you have a lot of programs running in your system tray automatically. Just set those programs so they don’t run automatically. The program will still be there when you call on it.

In most TV manuals there are pages that give all connection possibilities. Check out the manual.

This really depends on what kind of output connections your laptop has. Most laptops have a vga output. Some add s-video as well. If you have the s-video, it may provide a better picture than the vga output. Unless you have a good graphics system in the laptop that can go above 800×600 resolution. In that case the vga vable will work, or use a vga-dvi adapter, depending on the connections available on the TV set.
