Can Anyone Recommend A Lcd Tv Which Truly Recreates Even The Deepest Blacks?
Having now owned 2 LCD TVs which I have not been happy with I am hoping someone can recommend an LCD 40" TV which recreates blacks as truly as possible without any of the clouding or lighter areas common to LCD, such as the Sony KDL40D3500 and KDLV3000 I have recently purchased. I know Pioneer's Kuros TVs are meant to be the best for blacks but I am after an LCD not Plasma. Help !!

There is new technology called “local dimming” for LCDs. What this means is that instead of a uniform backlight (which washes out the blacks), the backlight has sections of LEDs whose light level can be controlled separately. So when a certain section of the screen is black, the backlight in that section is dimmed to create a better black. The ultimate would be a single LED per LCD pixel, but that’s not there yet and would be quite expensive to produce.
Samsung currently offers a line of LCD TVs with local dimming. They call the feature “LED SmartLighting” ™.
Do a web search for “local dimming LCD” for more.

The new Sony ‘W4000 has a 33,000 on-screen (not dynamic, take note Samsung lovers) contrast ratio whichproduces far deeper blacks.
The 40″ of this model has won a recent What Hi-fi award.
What Hi-fi is probably the most reputable magazine in the business.
Edit: AJ, those are still two very good TVs you have mentioned, what input are you getting your picture from? It could be just a poor signal…

Why do you want another LCD if you have been unhappy with the previous 2?
If picture quality is the most important feature then choose by that, not the technology inside-let your eyes be the judge.

Check out either the Samsung LN46A650 or LN46A750 models. These are the best LCD TVs out there today.
