Can I Place A Surround Sound Right In Front Of My Lcd Tv?
Hi, I just purchased a surround sound system and am currently setting it up. Just wondering if it's all right to place the centre speaker right in front of my LCD TV. Will it cause any problems, or should I just put it underneath the TV unit?
Thanks in advance.

Speaker placement is critical if you want to enjoy the systems capibility. I call it directional sound split. When watching movies that were recorded in dolby digital, DTS ( Digital Theater Sound- which is my favorite ) or any numerous audio formats, TDSX – THX, etc. -placing the speakers in the positions based on your tuners splitting the signals is important.
Front left & right, center and two rear ( left and right ) surround speakers will allow you to hear the audio which is recorded to match the video. Example……….car burns rubber in your video on the righ side of your picture…….the sound will is split to your right speaker. Airplanes approaching from the rear of the movie your watching, the sound starts in your rear speakers and transfers to your front speakers following what your viewing on your screen. Placing all of your speakers up front by your TV, you deprive yourself what a surround sound is suppose to do for you. That’s why they call it “surround” sound.

Right if front is fine as long as you can stand looking at the speaker in front of the new wiz bang TV.

The speakers must be of good quality and shielded! Cheap speakers many made in China are not properly shielded!
