Can You Play Video Games On An Lcd Tv Safely?

I own a Sony Bravia Full HD 1080 TV and after doing online research I'm just completely confused. When we bought it, the salesman told us not to play games on it because of burn in and that it would ruin the life of the TV. Online however, some claim LCD screens don't run the risk of burn in and its perfectly fine to use. So can someone tell me with certainty whether or not its safe to play games on an LCD TV without risking burn-in or damaging the its longevity?

  1. LCD TV’s have no burn in whatsoever. Plasma TV’s do. It was a major problem for plasma televisions when they first started being made but now there are almost no problems with burn in, even with plasma. Don’t worry, play away, LCD’s are COMPLETELY safe for video games, without any risk whatsoever of burn in. The salesman was completely wrong.

  2. Unfortunately, LCDs can suffer from burn-in. But modern game consoles dim the screen after about 5-10 minutes of inactivity to help against burn-in. Just don’t leave the screen sitting there for more than 2 hours. Keep the TV turned off when not in use, and you’ll be fine. Playing games won’t damage the longevity of TVs any more than watching TV on them will.

  3. I have the same tv and I play my 360 on it all the time.
LCDs are less likely to burn than plasmas, but to be safe, don’t pause the screen and leave it there for a long time. If you’re going to pause a game or leave a static (non-moving) image on the screen for a while, just be safe and turn off the tv.
