How Do I Fill The Screen Of My Lcd Tv While Watching A Dvd Movie?
i have an lcd tv and dvd player hooked to it.
when playing a dvd movie i do not get the full tv screen to fill.
is this normal or am i doing something wrong.
i thought a widescreen lcd tv would be compatible with a dvd display.

Does your dvd have a zoom option?
thats one way the other is to go into the option menu of the dvd player select correct option.

it’s normal, although many LCD TVs offer a way to expand the image to fill the entire screen. Often this ends up cutting off the edges of the picture. Check your manual, on my Sony there is a button on the remote called “wide” that provides this zoom function.

Some DVDs will have options in them to either play in widescreen or regular mode.
Your TV may have have this feature in the setup mode.

The problem is that while your lcd is a 16:9 ratio, the movie is displayed in its native format. This is rarely 16:9. It is still considered widescreen because its something like 1:2.31 (varies movie to movie). Most lcd’s have a zoom feature to get rid of the bars. Also, some dvd players have this feature as well. The only other thing you could do would be to get full screen movies, but they will look distorted.
