Husband Is Concerned Re: Amount Of Space Needed Around Our Lcd Tv. Is There Some Kind Of Formula For That?
My husband is concerned about the amount of space needed around our LCD TV. Is there some kind of formula for that?We have the tv in a built in bookcase but he thinks there needs to be a certain amount of space between the tv and the shelf above it. We are buying a new 46" LCD and according to specs it is 30" high. Does the shelf above it need to be a certain amount of inches so that the tv does not overheat.

Yes, each manufacturer will give different clearance figures in the owners manual for that set. The other responder who said 3 inches is wrong. I know my Sony set specifies more than that by quite a bit. I think I’d loose the bookcase or at least have some major surgery done to it.
