I Have An Lcd Tv But How Do I Get Digital Channels Without Cable Service?

I have no clue how this works and would love someones help. I just bought a brand new LCD TV and was under the impression that I would just be able to pick up the digital signal. Well I can't! I don't have cable service and rely only on an inside antenna. My TV says that no digital channels are found and for that matter I've lost two of the channels that I was watching on my old television (Fox Network). Please help!

  1. You are basically right but sometimes the devil is in the detail. I am assuming if you can not get digital channels, you have some distance to a city where there are broadcast stations. Put your address in this web site and then let us know how far you are away from the stations you want to see. The color coding will also provide you with information as to how good of an antenna you need.http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.asp…
Analog TV was subject to fade and snow and was often times, pretty viewable even under those conditions. Digital TV is different and if the signal is slightly marginal, you in effect, fall of the cliff and will not be able to see any picture.
My take, even without the distance information, is that your antenna system is needing some sort of upgrade. There are still antenna systems around with twin lead inputs and then there are many more with RG59 instead of RG6 coax. Others have loose or rusted connections, etc. An antenna with more elements also has more gain and is better able to pick up weak signals. Other options include such things as getting an amplifier for your antenna.

  2. If you ha vent already done so u will have to go into the menu of the tv and have auto scan for digital channels, or upgrade your antenna with amplifier.
