The contrast ratio is the same, the refresh rate is the same, and the features are all the same except for 2 small things. The a650 does not have the content library. A hard drive inside the TV that stores diferrent kinds of things. The a850 is differrent because it is the ultra thin 1.5" frame. The real change in picture quality comes from the a950 LED backlit model. It has a contrast ratio that rivals most plasma TVs and is Samsung's flagship TV for this model year.
