is the problem right in the corner of your tv screen? if so, it may have developed a problem called screen bleeding where basically pixels are letting light through when they shouldnt be. Mine does it slightly and the problem is only visible on very dark scenes. The only solution really is to have the panel replaced (which would be uneconomical)
I found that i could reduce the problem by adjusting the backlight, brightness and contrast levels but it will always be there. i also find that the problem is worst when the set is first turned on and gradually gets better.
Put quite simply – live with it or replace the tv.

If you can remember (or ask your family if they touched your television set) of who touched it, then ask them. It seems that your TV screen has had certain pressure on it (someone pressing on your screen), that has created a permanent screen damage. Where ever you would take it, the repair cost would cost from a range of 100-500 dollars, plus shipping and handling, unless you bought it from a store.

Oh KC Barker you are SO WRONG about repair costs….
I know nobody leaned into his TV set, it may be palm-sized but it wasn’t done by a palm…if it were, you would see a Star-like crack in the display panel.
And the repair cost on your TV set is actually going to be as much as a new LCD, because the LCD panel is bad…..There’s a thing called a LIGHT PIPE in your Flourescent display that EVENLY disperses the light evenly behind the LCD film….it has failed and it is a part of the LCD panel…..
Now is this TV JUST over a year old?
Call Sony about it, get a copy of your purchase reciept for the Sony Tech if they authorize the repair….
Sometimes Sony will cover a little longer than expected…..

sounds as if the display panel has been damaged by pressure on the front of the screen could be mega expensive!
