What Size Flat Screen Tv For A Master Bedroom?
Flat screen TV's are perfect for bedroom viewing as they can be mounted to the wall at any height for optimum viewing. The question always comes up though - what size is correct for a bedroom TV? And should I purchase a Plasma or LCD model?
It is generally accepted that Plasma is superior for low light viewing (typically what you would be doing at night), however both technologies are being improved upon and competing for business so it's best to actually visit a store where you can compare different models.
As far as the correct size you want to be at least 2 times the size of the screen away for HD and further for comfortable standard definition viewing. A 32 in model is good for a room up to about 12 by 12, the 37 inch model up to about 15 by 15 and larger models for rooms larger than that.
Picture quality does not really need different criteria for day or night viewing. You want to look for a TV that is bright enough and can be viewed from the angles needed for your room. One of the most difficult things for a video screen to reproduce are deep blacks so that is the next thing you'll want to use to narrow your search. Finally, stand very close to the screen and analyze which one has the sharpest edges between the reds and the yellows. These criteria should help you to find the best model in your price range.
When mounting a TV in your bedroom it's often best to have it very close to the ceiling to make it easier on your neck. It is still possible to view a high mounted model while standing - as you would be while getting dressed in the morning. Don't use a TV stand or entertainment center as you would for viewing from a seated position as it will be very uncomfortable while lying down.
