I have a corner fireplace (gas) and would like to place an LCD TV on top. A certain amount of heat is generated from the fireplace.

i'm buying a sony bravia 46-inch lcd tv and will be mounting it above my fireplace. the fireplace will be covered in beadboard.
my question is, what do i need to tell my contractor to do to set up for this installation? does he need to mount a series of 2x4's so that there is a sufficient base so that it is securely mounted?
if you have any insight, please let me know!

I'm mounting an LCD TV above my fireplace. How much room should I allow between the bottom of the TV and the top of the fireplace opening? There's no mantel - and it's a wood burner, so there's some heat. Any recommendations?

I recently bought a Sony 42" LCD TV, and I was hoping to put it above my fireplace, but is this safe? Also, is it safe to place the TV in an area that is warm, like near the kitchen? Also, does this rule apply to Plasma TV's too? Thanks!
