My lcd tv is a 46" rear projection LCD about 4 years old. Any time the screen shows black such as changing inputs or watching a movie when the picture is black there is a faded spot in the center of the screen about 12" in diameter. The faded spot is not black(or blue since it is a LCD) and is lighter in color than the rest of the screen

I was told about every 3-4 years, and I think the guy at the store was trying to sell me a service plan using this bulb thing. My father has had an LCD projection tv for about 4 years now and he has never had a bulb problem. Any help would be appreciated.
