a few sony LCD HDTVs models are rated really well. In general I would go with a Sony over a Sharp. As for price, need some specs (ie resolution 720p or 1080p) to better determine prices.

I have the sony grand wega. I love it never had any problems. The tv looks good even when it is off as the speakers are hidden.
