Feed a man a fish and you only feed him for a day, but teach…
This is so easy you’d hit your forehead. You can do this for makers of any consumer product:
1. Go to a retailer’s website, say Best Buy.com. Look up LCD TVs. Rank by the best sellers. You’ll see a few familiar brand names.
(ex:Sony)
2. Google the brand name. At the company website, find the “about” page. You should be able to find the main company name.
(ex: Sony Corporation)
3. Now go to finance.yahoo.com. Click Finance Search and enter the company name. This should get you the ticker (unless the company’s private and doesn’t sell stock).
(ex: SNE)
4. Go to your broker and buy that it, if that’s your strategy (I’d investigate more thoroughly, though).
Nobody can really tell you a stock is a “good choice” (the many will say they can). It is possible to easily tell if one is a bad choice, though. If you haven’t learned enough about stock research to tell which stocks are bad choices don’t buy individual stocks. Get your education first.
