The TV is only as good as its source material. If you are watching standard definition source (i.e. standard cable, non-upconverted DVD, broadcast TV) then there’s really no point in buying an HDTV.

You are going to see a difference with an LCD TV over the standard television. However, to get the full impact of an HDTV you should upgrade your cable and have the HD features…such as the cable box being hooked up to the tv by those composite (about 8 cords that look like rca cords but are not). Also, when you hook a DVD player up via the hdmi input and watch an hd movie or one of those blue ray on the blue ray type of player then you will see a big difference. In the short of it you can start out with that and then updgrade your cable and purchase a DVD player that has the bells and whistles.

I got a LCD HD Vizio with my income tax and I love it! You can defiantly see the difference. If you watch alot or TV and/or movies it will really be worth getting a HDTV, but only if you plan to upgrade your cable and/or DVD player, etc to HD, otherwise it’s kinda pointless.
