When Does A Lcd Tv Become Too Big To Use As A Computer Monitor?
I"m considering the purchase of a new 42 in LCD TV and I'd like to be able to use it as a computer monitor for my laptop. It seems to me like at a certain point it would be stimulus overload to have too big of a TV screen for computer tasks like word processing and checking email. How big is too big?

I’m using a 52″ and I’m never going back to anything smaller. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/a…
I think big screens are IDEAL for word processing, email and websurfing. Nothing like big, easy-to-read text.
As soon as the new 70-inch LCD HDTVs become affordable, that’s what I’m moving to.
Just make sure you got a 10-foot-long monitor cable to connect to your LCD TV so you can sit a bit far from it to get a nice view of the screen. Remember you are NOT supposed to sit with your face pressed up against a big-screen TV like the person below does.

no such thing as too big, however it depends on your graphic card on the laptop if u want a better resolution, plus the higher the resolution the nicer it will look on your big tv but the laggier it will get if u try to play a game or somthing full screen if ure card is not that powerful. a 9800 gt or gs on laptop can handle up to 2048 by 1536.

In my opinion there is no limit. As long as it has the VGA connection port. The speed of the comptuer will slow down a little if the screen gets too big, but as long as you have a good graphics chip then the change should not be noticible. Sometimes I have my laptop connected to my 55in LCD TV to watch movies.

People use all sizes but I only like big monitors for watching movies from the computer. Other than that, for typing and browsing the internet, it hurts my eyes to sit so close to such a big monitor.
