Which One To Buy Between Lcd Tv Or Plasma Tv?

I am planning to buy a tv(40/42 inches).I am confused regarding the following:
1. Which is better between plasma and lcd
2. Which brand is better
3. Which is the best

  1. LCD has more repairs than plasma. That is not a problem since most repairs are during the warranty. Both types of sets are wonderful. You can’t make a bad choice. Plasma generates a lot of heat and uses more electricity. LCD’s blur a bit when the motion on tv is very fast.
Get Consumer Reports magazine for the best brands. Phillips has the most repairs.
My last big set was expensive and only lasted 3 years. The repairmen said they were not worth repairing. Now, i will only shop by price among the major brands. The cheaper the better.

  2. lcd runs cooler, and can do motion better, better buy.
plasma suffers from easy burn-in, runs hotter and is only good with still images

  3. try http://freewebs.com/desravines26 their prices r amazin’

  4. It all depends on a few things. 1. Does the room where you want to place the tv have bright or dim lighting? If you have bright lighting in that room, go with the lcd. Lcd’s look better with brighter rooms, whereas plasmas have extensive heat generating from the screen, allowing it to show more brighter, and has a richer black color (in black parts of the movie/tv show being watched. 2. Do you care about which is more energy efficient? If so, lcd is the way to go. Lcd’s have a built-in fan, like computers do, and uses somewhat less power outage than a plasma. Lcd’s also can show sort of distorted picture when being watched from a side angle, so it is best to view lcd’s directly in the middle, or just a little to the left or right, whereas plasma’s show great from the side. I have a lcd tv, because after I researched a lot online between the differences, I came to the conclusion that longer tv life was more important to me than better black color, or being able to see no difference in picture quality from a side angle. Lcd’s also give you the option of hooking your tv up to your computer, so you can view things from your computer (photos, music videos, movies/tv shows) ON your big screen tv. Plasma’s cost about $100-$300 (for the same size comparison of the lcd brand), and that is because of better deeper colors, better at catching fast blurs, ie, speeding cars, jets, superheroes, etc and can be watched at any viewing angle, but other than that, lcd’s are the way to go. My main concern with purchasing a big screen hi-def model, was the fact that they run on lamp bulbs (which I hear are expensive), so I wanted something that didn’t generate so much heat, so I could save on replacement bulbs more often. One important thing to always remember when purchasing so expensive that you want to get a lot of use out of is; GET A EXTENDED WARRANTY!! Make sure that extended warranty covers bulb replacements (ask how many during the life of the extended warranty), and make use of the manufacturer’s warranty FIRST, when needing to use your warranty (if the extended warranty is 2 years or more), because it will go a long ways if the extended warranty covers say….3 replacement bulbs over a 4 year warranty….you can use your manufacturer’s warranty first, then still have the extended warranty to use afterwards, so in essence, you’d get 4 replacement bulb coverages instead of the extended warranty’s 3. Also, extended warranties should be seen as 1 less year than advertised. A 2 year extended warranty, is actually a 1 year extended warranty, because of the manufacturer’s 1 year warranty. The extended warranty is NOT an added 2 year ON TOP OF THE MANUFACTURER’S 1 YEAR warranty. It is WORTH getting the extended warranty on such a pricy purchase, because if not, you’d be paying hefty costs after the manufacturer’s 1 year warranty expires, and you need replacements/repairs. 3. Does having the best picture resolution matter to you? If so, 1080p Is the highest picture resolution. 1080p is great IF you have/will get a blu-ray dvd player with hdmi cable, or hd-dvd player. If not, and you’re using it for regular dvd movies, and cable tv hookup only, go the 720p-1080i route. Cable tv doesn’t have 1080p channels yet, so it’s a waste of money to pay $150-$250 extra for just having 1080p, and not having a hd-dvd player/blu-ray dvd player to experience full high definition. If using your big screen tv to watch regular digital quality dvds, you may want to get a dvd player with upconversion (try going for the same-name brand upconvert as the name of your big screen, for better playback quality). These upconverts cost just a few dollars more than a regular dvd player (some cost the same as a regular dvd player), and will upconvert your standard regular dvds, to NEAR-HD quality. Also a good thing to look for, is a big screen with a quam tuner. This allows you to watch some stations in hd-quality without needing a hd-cable box (as my LG lcd has). One last thing to remember, is if you’re somewhat decent in hooking up cords to a tv/dvd player, do NOT pay extra to have a salesperson install your dvd player to your tv for $200…..that was a waste of time (waiting 4 hours PAST the setup time given), and was no sweat for me to hookup myself while being restless waiting for the salesman. When they arrived, I had already hooked up my upconvert dvd player and tv, and was watching movies on it. The only thing I needed help with, was setting up my tv to scan for clear channels (which was a waste because it turned out to be very easy with the instruction manuel I was lazy to read). I knew more about the new tv model I had, than the salesman knew (he didn’t know what the hell a “quam tuner” was, lol). My research before I got my tv paid off bigtime (along with messing with the exact same model in the store, figuring out it’s features before I screwed up MY OWN flat screen). The salesperson did however set up my dvd remote that came with the tv, to wo
