Why Do Tv Lcd Monitors Project Poorer Quality Than A Computer Monitor?

I assumed that it would look the same on both and was thinking about getting rid of my computer monitor. But it was very fuzzy on my LCD TV

  1. If you are using composite (yellow RCA plug) or S-Video, that is lower resolution than current monitors and might not even look as sharp as 640×480 VGA on a monitor.
To get decent sharpness you would need to use VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable and it would work best if your PC video supports the native resolution of your TV. Not all computers support HDTV modes and many HDTV’s only support 4:3 PC modes when connected to a PC and not 16:9 widescreen modes. My laptop can display at the full 1366×768 of my HDTV at home using VGA, but the best it could do with same resolution screen at a motel was 1024×768 VGA (either pillar boxed or stretched).

  2. This might be your method of connection. If you use a converter that will give you usually the worst quality. A HDMI cable should be best. Also consider that your screen is much larger than the monitor.

  3. Computer monitor has a lot higher resolution, TV monitors are only designed for TV, which around 500 odd lines compared to computer monitor of 1000s of lines.
