Why Is My Samsung Lcd Tv Screen Black When Connected To My Toshiba Laptop Using A Vga Cable?
i tried trouble shooting already. changing resolutions and doing what the computer tells me to do but absolutely nothing is going on screen. it works with the s cable but the picture is lousy. i thought using the vga cable would give a better picture just like it does on the laptops lcd. the laptop is 2 years old but the tv is brand new. could there be compatibility issues? please help!

Usually on laptops there are ‘function keys’. One of these combination function keys is used to choose the output display. Since the function keys are different on different laptops, I can’t tell you where yours is.
And by the way, you won’t get the same picture quality on your TV as you would from a monitor. This is because your TV isn’t capable of displaying the resolutions outputted by computers. This is why computer monitors are more expensive than a TV of the same size.

Check that you have turned on VGA output on the laptop (this will require the laptop to be in a compatible graphics mode – the laptop screen may go blank).
And check you have enabled VGA input on the monitor. This is different from the TV inputs, and on my TV/monitor takes some finding.
