Will My Wall Be Able To Support A Sharp Lc46xd1e Lcd Tv?

I am going to be buying a Sharp LC46XD1E 46inch LCD TV and am considering mounting it on my wall but was wondering if my plasterboard wall in my living room would be strong enough to support it (it weighs (31.5kg) ? Also, can anyone recommend a decent wall bracket, it doesn't have to be tiltable.

  1. To fix it to a plasterboard wall, you need to find the timber uprights that support the plasterboard. You can do this with a magnet or metal detector (to find the nailheads) or by tapping the wall. Fix two pieces of 100mm x 50mm timber horizontally to the wall with 4 100mm screws going into the uprights. You can now fix the TV bracket to that. It will take the weight of the TV (and you as well).

  2. A TV that large really needs to be professionally fitted. There’s a huge potential for horrible expensive disaster when someone DIYs a big TV onto a wall. A lot of small electrical retailers provide a flatscreen mounting service, so it’s worth phoning around a few local shops.
B-Tech do high quality mounts with standard VESA fittings (which should fit most LCD and plasma screens).http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/37-61-…

  3. get thick ply wood cut smaller than the area of the TV and mount it to the wall.
to do this you will have to find the wooden straps supporting the plasterboard.
use a sharp screwdriver to poke holes in the plasterboard and find the straps, then you know where to put the screws through.
pilot drill holes through the ply and screw to the wall with 8 or 10 2.5″ screws.
then get a manufacturers reccomended wall mounting bracket and attach to the ply wood using all the mounting holes provided.
if the wood is mounted correctly you will be able to put all your weight onto it,
again the key is finding the straps of wood behind the plaster board, dont worry about holes as you wont see them once the tv is fitted.

  4. no way lol
but find the joists that support the plasterboard & screw into them.
